The ocean scenario has arrived in version 3.1.1

Once Human Isles of Abyss is live in version 3.1.1. The official update dates its availability after October 21 maintenance, Pacific Time; the developer's PlayStation Blog announcement used October 22 for PS5. The current patch notes cover PC, console and mobile. Isles of Abyss is a PvE scenario, separate from the similarly named RaidZone map.

The latest official fixes, dated October 23, make this more than an upcoming expansion announcement. They also give returning players a reason to check information published after launch: an early problem report may describe behavior that the developer now lists as corrected.

A mobile sea base changes the question behind a building project

Lead game designer Vincent Tao describes a vessel that grows from a raft into a Sea Fortress: transport, workshop, forward base and artillery platform in one structure. That gives Isles of Abyss ship building a purpose beyond producing an attractive silhouette.

For example, sketch two working plans: a short material-gathering circuit and a longer combat outing. Label which activity each construction choice is meant to support. Comparing those plans gives a concrete reason to revise a design, without assuming that a visually elaborate vessel is automatically more effective. These are planning examples, rather than tested layouts.

Island and underwater exploration feed each other

Tao's explanation connects two resource paths. Island exploration supplies naval technology and weaponry; deep-sea materials support equipment and base progression on land. The starter island introduces the journey, with the remaining four oceanic regions available in a player-chosen order.

A simple project note can have three lines: desired upgrade, missing material, and activity that supplies it. Update the note after returning. That does not solve an undocumented recipe; it helps distinguish a trip that gathered something useful from one that merely repeated a familiar route.

Entry rules and the scenario cycle deserve a separate check

After character creation and the new-player experience, entry uses scenario selection and sign-up. Existing characters in other scenarios also use the sign-up screen. The documented core cycle is approximately 21 days across two phases, followed by a rest stage; first-phase length responds to server purification progress.

For a group considering a weekend start, agreeing on a server and checking its current phase provides more context than simply comparing calendar dates. A published cycle describes the scenario's structure. It does not establish that every available server is at the same point when your group arrives.

October 23 fixes address movement and construction problems

The latest Once Human 3.1.1 notice marks shipboard movement lag and position rollback as fixed. It also lists corrections for ships becoming stuck and teleporting players incorrectly, territory item placement, and applying a ship layout with the Ignore Facilities filter. A custom-server progression task and mobile tree harvesting receive fixes too.

The notice also moves the scenario's Team-system unlock from Tech Level 2 to Tech Level 1. Those are specific developer-reported changes. If a problem persists, record the platform, server type and action that triggers it; the notes do not prove that every connection issue has been eliminated.

The permanent server remains a future milestone

The update expects the Isles of Abyss permanent server on November 18, Pacific Time. That remains a planned opening, rather than part of today's confirmed availability.

Before beginning, check the in-game scenario listing for your account and region, then decide whether the current cycle fits your intended sessions. Keep that choice separate from the appeal of a floating fortress: the construction idea explains what is new, while the server and phase information explains the setting in which you will use it.
