Twenty-five games join Steam

The EA Classics launch arrived on November 5, 2026. EA announced 25 older PC games becoming available on Steam for the first time, with releases also on GOG and the EA app. The group includes seven restored Anniversary Editions and 18 titles EA describes as faithful ports.

The restored set comprises Road Rash, Wing Commander I and II, Wing Commander III and IV, Wing Commander Prophecy and Privateer 2. Other entries include Theme Hospital, both Crusader games and a selection of Ultima adventures. The release gives each title its own edition and store listing to check.

Recovered footage supports the restoration

EA traces the project to a physical archive discovered at its Redwood Shores campus in March 2022. The company reports nearly 20,000 archival items and an estimated 2,500 hours of footage preserved through digitization. Master recordings supplied material for restoring the games' filmed scenes.

For a returning player, the useful question is which viewing options a particular edition offers. EA documents restored source footage and optional upscaled cinematics for several games. Privateer 2 also has an alternate director's cut with revised color and editing. Check that title's options when deciding how you want to revisit its scenes.

Road Rash restores music and adds modern controls

Road Rash's Anniversary Edition revisits the 1996 PC release. Its Steam listing describes a relicensed soundtrack, with licensed songs available during races, plus controller support, a windowed display option and cloud saves. It advertises gameplay up to 60 frames per second.

The current Steam product supports Windows. In the Mexico store data checked on November 6, Road Rash was available to buy for MXN 89.50, a 50% reduction from MXN 179.00. That is the regional offer for this specific listing. The performance description comes from the publisher and is not a measurement of how the game runs on a particular PC.

GOG explains its Prophecy work

GOG's November 5 announcement identifies Wing Commander Prophecy as its restoration project in collaboration with EA and the Wing Commander community. GOG says the work combined community modifications with its tools to display EA's recovered video and add native controller support.

GOG also placed this Anniversary Edition in its Preservation Program. Its announcement attributes the restorations of the other five Wing Commander and Privateer 2 editions to EA. Someone comparing releases can therefore look up the work on the particular game they own instead of treating the whole collection as one identical technical update.

Check existing Wing Commander ownership

EA says owners of digital Wing Commander games on GOG or the EA app will receive the corresponding Anniversary upgrade on their existing platform at no cost. GOG's own terms describe Anniversary packs that contain an updated edition and the older Legacy build, and say existing owners receive the matching pack.

Open the library where you already own the game and inspect its available versions before placing another order. The upgrade statement names those platforms. A new Steam listing is a separate storefront choice. The ability to choose a Legacy build in GOG's pack may also matter when comparing how a familiar scene or control behaves.

The launch pricing window ends November 19

EA dates the introductory pricing period on Steam and GOG from November 5 through November 19. Its announcement gives calendar dates without an exact closing hour. Check the offer shown on the individual product page when buying, especially near the final day.

Begin with one title and the edition you intend to play. Match its supported operating system, content options and any ownership upgrade to your own library. The three sources below provide the launch inventory, GOG's pack terms and an example of a restored game's current listing.
