World of Horror 1.2 Update: Scenario Mode and New Old Gods
World of Horror 1.2 update adds Scenario Mode, characters and Steam Workshop tools on Windows and Mac. The console update is planned for 2027.

As Below So Above arrived on computers October 30
The World of Horror 1.2 update arrived October 30, 2026, free for owners on Steam, GOG and itch.io, supporting Windows and macOS. The release is named As Below So Above. The developer’s dated Steam announcement and Ysbryd Games’ release notice confirm the delivered update.
Steam dates the base game’s release October 19, 2023. For someone returning now, the useful choice is which addition to investigate first: another configuration of a run, a focused prequel story or community-authored material. Those lead to different first sessions, even though they belong to the same update.
New Old God options change the threat around an investigation
Steam describes the existing game as a roguelite RPG with turn-based combat and randomized mysteries in Shiokawa, Japan. Ikt-Yosis, The First Nightmare, reshapes the world through strange weather. The War for Shiokawa brings four cults and their summoned masters into play together.
Ysbryd’s official imagery labels Tarred Rain with a reduction of two maximum Stamina for the remainder of the playthrough. A persistent capacity change asks a different planning question from a single encounter’s immediate cost: how much room remains for later choices? Read the duration beside the value when assessing that kind of effect.
New investigators offer another reason to revisit the town
Three playable characters are added, including tarotist Kiriko and Satoshi, a hiker familiar with the mountains. The developer’s own game page introduces investigating with clues, spells and dwindling sanity, placing a character choice within that wider survival premise.
A useful first question is what the chosen investigator lets you do at the beginning, and which resources those options use. Keep a short note of that question as the first mystery unfolds. That gives the run a defined purpose without judging the whole character from one random encounter.
Scenario Mode gives the return a prequel focus
Scenario Mode adds self-contained prequels. Forest of Fear / Tapes of Tragedy follows Makoto, a school audiovisual-club member filming a forest legend. The release connects this story to Freaky Feature of Found Footage.
A prequel changes the question with which a player approaches a familiar mystery: what led to it? That can be a useful starting point for someone interested in the setting’s history. The base game’s Steam description already presents investigations with multiple endings and random encounters. Choosing a self-contained scenario instead gives the next session a named narrative focus, without requiring a walkthrough of its revelations.
Workshop creators receive more kinds of material to author
Steam Workshop support expands to custom enemies, events and mysteries, with additional interface and flag customization.
For an invented mystery sketch, a flag might record that the player has read a notice. A later event could then show different text depending on that remembered state. This original sketch illustrates state-dependent storytelling and uses no actual game-file syntax. A creator can specify the intended state and resulting text before implementing it, then check both branches. The announced Workshop additions concern the Steam toolset, so their availability should stay attached to that platform.
Console owners have a separate update window
The announcement schedules the console update for 2027, with no day or month specified. The current release notice should therefore be read as confirmation for the named computer versions, with the console delivery still ahead.
For a purchase decision, keep ownership of the base game separate from receiving its owner update. The announcement’s free-update wording describes the additional content for existing owners. Choose the store and platform you intend to use, then check that version’s current listing. This report carries no temporary sale price or exact worldwide unlock hour, and the planned console window remains a future date.
