Avatar Legends Avatar State Patch: Ranked Sets and Fighter Reworks
The Avatar Legends Avatar State Patch changes ranked sets, reworks Aang and Nightmare Korra, and expands training. Read the 4.0 notes and Combo Trials caveats.

The Xbox report confirms availability on October 30
The Avatar Legends Avatar State Patch is available on Xbox Series X|S, Gameplay Group confirmed in its October 30, 2026 announcement. Paramount labels the detailed notes Patch 4.0 and dates them October 28. The developer’s Steam announcement also belongs to October 28, confirming the update there.
Keep those records attached to their platforms and publication dates. The October 30 Xbox report confirms current availability; it does not establish that every platform received the patch at the same instant. This coverage checks the documented changes on October 31.
Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra return with reworked attacks
Gameplay Group describes both returning fighters as reimagined, with revised art and attacks. Avatar Aang gains Roku’s Inferno, a Super Technique in which Roku engulfs the battlefield in flame. Nightmare Korra’s rebuilt presentation includes her Final Technique, Eternal Nightmare, alongside chain swings and abrupt movement.
For a returning player, a familiar character portrait is a starting point for checking the new move list. If an older demonstration shows a sequence you want to try, identify its version before following it. A changed move can affect the sequence even when the fighter’s name remains familiar.
Ranked points now depend on completing a first-to-three set
Paramount’s notes specify first-to-three ranked sets. Points are awarded after the set finishes, the set winner cannot lose points, and leaving early incurs a penalty. These rules make the full set the relevant commitment when entering ranked play.
For an arithmetic example, a player leading two wins to zero still needs another win. Three consecutive wins by the opponent would reverse the outcome. The opening games therefore cannot settle the set’s result on their own. Allow room for the complete set before queuing, because the result remains open at that score.
Training adds more ways to vary a recorded situation
Training Mode adds playback from random slots and block settings named First Only and Random. Reset behavior is also revised to respect player-side assignments. Those are changes to the conditions a player can arrange while examining a move or response.
For a proposed practice check, begin with one recorded situation and one blocking condition. Ask whether the sequence connects under that condition, then vary the response. A change in the result gives you a specific interaction to inspect. Keep the fighter, support choice and reset position consistent so the changed condition remains clear in your observation.
Combo Trials retain a documented completion limitation
The same 4.0 notes list a known issue: a Trial can be completed even when its final attack fails to combo. Paramount also identifies tracking limitations in specified Ozai tutorials and Trials. The expanded learning tools therefore arrive with concrete qualifications that matter when interpreting a completion result.
For someone checking a sequence, successful completion and an uninterrupted combo are separate observations. Compare the performed sequence with the demonstration and the listed issue before concluding that the final connection is verified. The warning identifies particular completion and tracking behavior; the notes describe the affected lessons in more detail.
Story stages and mode choices broaden the next session
The Steam announcement opens Avatar Road and Air Temple Island beyond Story Mode and describes Story stages in local and online Versus. It also announces Story Mode+, new tutorials and expanded Arcade content. Paramount’s notes separately list Novice, Intermediate and Expert Arcade difficulty choices.
Choose the activity that answers your immediate question: inspect a reworked fighter in Training, select a stage in Versus or revisit the single-player modes. For online console matches, Xbox’s current US store requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate, sold separately. That account condition belongs alongside the patch information when planning an online return.
